Jules Deelder & Louis Gauthier’s 2011 record ‘Totaal Loss’ will be released on vinyl for the first time on November 15th, 2019.
In honor of the upcoming 75th (!) Birthday of Jules Deelder, ‘Totaal Loss’ (2011) is now released on LP for the first time. ‘Totaal Loss’ is actually the second part in the music-poetry trilogy by composer and multimedia designer Louis Gauthier. Themes are specific to Deelder including Rotterdam, Sparta, war, music and drugs. The poems lend themselves perfectly to not only being read, but also to be heard. Gauthier’s compositions and graphic artwork are characterized by an avant-garde approach. His style is influenced by pop, rock and classical music. For his graphic work, he is inspired by modern and contemporary art. ‘Totaal Loss’ consists of a mix of light-hearted and confronting poems, which does justice to the variation in Deelder’s work and at the same time utilizes Gauthier’s compositional talent in all its facets. Anyone who wants to go ‘loose’ on poetry and music, will love ‘Total Loss’. Also features Hans Dulfer and Benjamin Herman, who wrote new liner notes especially for this issue.
